Default Shipping an engine?

Guys,

I want to ship my engine from western Maryland to Gofast up in New York for a build up. Any ideas as to who to use for the carrier? Also what about a crate? Does anyone have one local; ideas? I am still overseas so my Dad and brother will have to do it

Thanks

I was able to use the crate my GM Performance engine came on to ship my old engine to it's new owner. He used an engine shipping company, I'll look them up. Have your dad check with the local GM dealer. They may have crate engines that have been removed from the crates or know where one can be located. Built for the task.

Strapping down the engine is important.

Strapping worked well on four points of then engine.

I bagged it to keep out the rain.

Crate top installed and bolted down.

Engine arrived in great condition with a very happy new owner.

I'll see if I can locate that shipper for you.

I recently had some tires on wheels picked up, packed, and shipped from Dallas to St. Paul by Navis Pack & Ship. I shopped around for a week, got bids, etc. Navis was the lowest bid ($300) and did an excellent job of packing.

Check them out so see if they have an office in Maryland:

You can also explain what you want done and request bids from uShip

Don't know if a complete engine will fit, but, my short block was shipped in a 55 gal. drum. Block was encased in carpet padding, no spare room between the block and the drum. Drum was easier for me and the freight company to handle.

BTW, was shipped FedEx freight.
