Default Let's see your pics of your C3 with TPI

I'm going through the TPI swap, and want to see some pics of the end result. Can you post some pics of C3's with TPI installed?

I'm sort of curious as to why this is not more of a popular swap? Is it the electronics involved that scare off most people? If I recall the power correctly that my 89 had, it was LOADS faster than my 80, and that's just with the L98 motor in it. Seems like a good way to get more HP in a stock-style setup. I'm a little apprehensive about the wiring, but really it doesn't seem all THAT complicated, as long as you educate yourself and call upon those that have done the swap before. Just curious I suppose.

'Lectronics and wiring scares hell outta guys, soldering is a technique learned from practice only, being a olde tyme ET from the vacuum tube daze yet, make it easy for me, and I saved several hundred bux on my install by doing junkyard harness modifications, instead of painful to the pocketbook commercial harnesses.....which will need be assembled or modified for your computer location anyway....

In my case, it was dealing with the unknown. Once I got the manual and started researching the system, it not that big of a deal. The wife wants me to finish restoring her car before I spend more money on the vette. So, it is future work someday.

They are very economical swaps....but once you start 'tinkering' and upgrading, you will find the stock TPI swaps limiting....so then your after modified runners, siamesed, bigger injectors, modified throttle bodies, intakes, etc. for more power. The stock TPI has limited topend flow, etc. so that also steers the 'tinkers' away.

For a cheap, economical, good fuel economy, easy idle, starts, etc...they are awesome.

I had a Street & Performance TPI setup, modified runners, bigger injectors, etc......but I scored a Procharger super cheap.....and the cap 5500 rpm (weak flow over that) made me sell it and revert to a blow-thru Demon carb. to keep up with a procharger/nos setup.

TPI shootout in Feb 2005 Super Rod magazine

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Rod did a decent TPI shootout in their Feb. issue. It has:

Stock TPI (410hp, 500lb-ft)
Edelbrock High-Flo (431hp, 501lb-ft)
Extrude Hone base & LTR (451hp, 534lb-ft)
TPIS Big Mouth System (460hp, 534lb-ft)
ASM Siamesed Runners (464hp, 510lb-ft)
SLP T-Ram (466hp, 495lb-ft)
Accel SR (480hp, 506lb-ft)
Holley single plane (493hp, 480lb-ft)
HSR (501hp, 493lb-ft)
MR (505hp, 471lb-ft)

This is MUCH better then the stock power of many C3 Vettes... I love my TPI setup!

Still not enough HP add a Turbo to the TPI setup...
