1970 LT1 Engine Restoration
Progress photos of my 70 LT1 restoration.
This is my first corvette and my first restoration project. My mentor on this project is Pat Knight from Louisville KY, he is retired from Hunt and Knight Automotive. Plus tons of help and advise from forum members. It has taken me three years to get to this point.
The body is on a rolling dolly at the body shop, the interior pieces are in Texas at Al Knocks. The frame and all the other pieces are strung out in my garage and basment.
The engine has been decked but the VIN and code are still visable, I am still looking for the correct bolts for the carb to intake and I lost the GL sticker that is on the A.I.R. muffler.
The LT1 has the NA9 california option, so the carb is a little different then the standard LT1 and has the 2156 heat shield. I have to thank Joe Davis for the heat shield, because this item is very difficult if not impossible to find.

A veritible time machine. That's beautiful and one of the most correct assemblege of pieces I've seen.
For a first attempt at car and motor, I'm sure the results are worth the hassle of getting there.
Can't wait to see the final product. Great photos, BTW.
Congrats!

Great pictures! Good luck with the rest of your work and keep the pictures coming. The ignition shielding dresses the engine up, nice to see it fully installed.

Thanks for the nice responses. I will attach more photos as the project progresses. I have a second LT1 that I am working on also. Both LT1’s were wrecked in the front. The first LT1 originated from California, the second originated from Texas. Both LT1’s were built in March, about 2 weeks apart. I don’t know why I bought the second LT1, I found it on ebay while looks for parts for the first one and I couldn’t pass it up. My Girl friend and I drove from KY to Eugene OR to pick it up the second LT1. It was a great trip and it gave us a good reason to visit Yellow Stone and the Grand Tetons and the return trip. I guess it all about the journey, right?

It's all about the journey. With that understanding, you can enjoy the work...even without reaching the "end" [whatever that may be]. Excellent work.
