Adjusting Hood Latches
#2
Is the actual latch misaligned or is the cable adjusted too tight?
When the hood is closed and you pull the hood release,
does the passenger side pop open first? (would indicate cable adjustment)
Does the problem not occur if you slam the hood harder? (would indicate latch misalignment)

thanks for your response. Will try both techniques. If neither of these works would you suggest varying the height of the male latch. If so how do you make that adjustment?

Hi edw,
The rubber bumper on the male latch may need to be lowered a little bit so the latch is more secure when made.
Regards,
Alan
You can just see the bumper in this picture.

I would say your hood release cable is set too tight after going through a similar problem with my 70 roadster after restoration. Back the ferrule off 1/4" on the hood release wire from your handle under the dash.

Hi e,
Is there someone you can ask to help you? I'm afraid that if you start trying things you may get the hood closed and be unable to get it to open!
Anyone with a little mechanical knowledge?
Regards,
Alan
