Another VIN number question
Is there a VIN number somewhere on a 76 Corvette that tells what gear is in the rear end? Also will the gear ratio make the car drink more gas if a 373 gear has been put in . Automatic transmission car.

There should be a code on the differential that tells the ratio...the VIN won't tell you. And a 3.73 rear will turn more rpm's and burn more gas than a lower numerical ratio rear.
Here's the codes for 1976 and 1977...
OA = 3.08
OD = 3.36
LR = 3.36
OB = 3.55
OC = 3.70
