3970010 block ID
I found a block and cant fint proper info on it.
3970010 on back of block. Pad in front of passenger side head
has B&B on way left side and 1022 on far right side.
Front and rear mains are 2 bolt, rest are 4 bolt.
By oil filter it has 010 then 020 then 167, under timing chain cover
is 010 then 509 then 020 with other #s scatered, they are
512, 532 and G12. Just the block, but still wondering.
Thanks

It's a standard 4-bolt main block that was used in everything from hi-po cars to heavy duty trucks. The numbers will match the last digits of the serial number of the vehicle from which it came. The three letters will indicate what type of vehicle it came from. Check carefully as the middle character is not "&" but a letter. Search the site for a block ID code list. If the block has a spin-on oil filter then it came from a car or light duty truck. A canister filter means a heavy duty truck. Other than that, an 010 block is an 010 block. Mine came from a '73 C-60 truck so I had to change the oil filter mount (simple stuff). They're getting hard to find, so hold on to it if you don't plan to use it immediately.

Check the pad again as B&B doesn't sound right. Here's a page with all of the suffixes starting with "B" - http://www.73-87.com/chevy_ids/scode1.htm
