See post #73. The NCRS doesn't have the resources to do all the leg work and didn't want to sit on the recently released database, so it is hoped that members feed back what ever they know themselves, hopefully so more pieces of the puzzle fit.

At least I know "where" the car came from and have a picture (below). It's cool that they actually have a Vette parked in front (thanks google earth). This is now hanging in the garage with a new windowsticker that's fairly accurate...

how did you save photos from google earth ?

With earth just use the file dropdown menu. file>save>save image

If using google maps, doing a screen capture is the easy way.

My heart was pounding as i'm dialing.............

The dealership was opened in 1966, & in 1977 was sold to his son, which is who I spoke with. His dad is now 85 years old. They recently ( 2009 ) were part of the "GM" wind down dealership program & lost their store ( Chevrolet Franchise ) 2 years ago they started throwing everything away, to make some room. The father saved EVERYTHING.......they had every record of every car sold. Very small mom & pop type place, in a very remote small town. The good news EVERYTHING was not thrown out, there was way too much stuff & it will take a long time to clean up, so there is still a chance that my original dealer invoice, order form & original owner info still there, how cool would that be......possibly even a copy of the bank paperwork if financed & maybe a copy of the window sticker.........but i'm not holding my breath. I told him a large reward would be fourth coming if he can turn up something.

Now if only the NCRS / CHEVROLET released this info a fews years ago
my paperwork might not have wound up in the trash after being stored / saved for over 40 years.

So i learned the history of the dealership, spoke with the son who had just graduated college & worked at the dealership the summer my car was delivered, i sent them off a few e-mails & photos & now i'm on stand by once again............maybe i'll get lucky !!

It was a great / welcomed 1/2 hour call, I felt like i was a child locating my adopted parents & finally found them on the border of Missouri & Arkansas in the Ozarks.

I'll keep you posted on the progress........in the meantime now that I had confirmation the car was from Missouri I have sent the dept of Motor Vehicles the required documents to trace my car / title history via the VIN # so I have enough info to at least get the ball rolling, lets see where that trail leads.

It's exciting to say the least / heart throbbing to be exact !!

The girlfriend thinks i'm out of my mind........she says people trace familiy history..........geneology, & you spend hour upon hour tracing the history of your car. My reply was simply this:

The little red head is my family

S T A N D - B Y !!

Z I X X X P A C K E R
427: Hey... that's great regarding the the info you have acquired... and maybe more to come. I also have the name of my Dealership and know where they are. I was thinking, to just drive down there. (about 300 miles) with the LT-1 and say hello! If nothing came of it... at least I could get a pic of the LT-1 on their lot.

Needless to say, just did not know... what may or may not be available if I did so. Thanks for the info and look forward to seeing what you and I can come up with! Sure would luv to come across my Protecto plate! Maybe I could find the info on the origianl owner... and hopefully come across it! Muddy

Your lucky your dealer is still in business....the info on my car was that it sold out Jim Booher Chevrolet Louisville Ky....Apparently they went out of business and a Mercedes dealership is now operating at that address.

From the little info I was able to find it looks like they were incorporated in 1956 and their last annual report was in Oct 1988 so I'm assuming they were out of business by the end of 88 or 89.

Yep, the previous owner told me the car came from Ky. A couple of years ago I got the dmv to send me what they had which only came back to one other owner and she didn't want to talk about it....I think she either got it in a divorce settlement or her husband had died. In any event that's where the trail stopped. But at least now I know what dealer the car was sold from.
