Default Vacuum Fitting On Intake Manifold

On a 1969 aluminum intake manifold 427, 390 hp their is a vacuum fitting that sits on top of the manifold between the rear of the carb and the distributor,it points to the right rear on the manifold at a three degee angle. Where does the vacuun hose go???

What you are describing sounds like a “vacuum fitting’s they range from one port to several. I am not all that familiar with a 427 (you are a lucky man) and depending on the options your car has this can be the vacuum source for A/T Modulator, power brake booster (either from back of the carburetor or here depending on the carburetor) and as Alan said the vacuum system that supports your wiper door and head lights. If you have only one port I would say it’s the wiper door and head lights. If you do a search on some of the vendor’s online catalogs for vacuum port or fitting it may give you an idea.
Best of luck
Scott

It goes thru a small plastic filter, then behind the engine to a small two-way metal check valve that feeds the headlight and wiper vacuum system. I'm thinking about putting a two port fitting in the manifold and using the 2nd port for distributor advance (full manifold vacuum.) The gurus on the NCRS board swear it improves idling and reduces engine heat.

If you have power brakes, vacuum is provided by a fitting in the rear carburetor base.
