1980 Rivet and Sealer Qs
Just got my car back from full paint job...
Need to know what size or type rivets I need to purchase to re-attach the water deflectors in the door jambs. Also would like to know if some type of sealer is needed underneath the water deflector before installing? I make the assumption also that I can just purchase them from a local hardware store (Menards, Home DEpot) along with manual rivet tool??
Also, what type of rivet to use and sealer on the chrome T-top trim that is on the top of the vehicle. I removed this piece and drilled out the rivets on both back corners.
Thanks,
TTERZ

Just did the same thing with my 79. Should get it painted in the next week or two. I am also wondering about the sealer under the deflector. I will just use the manual rivet tool and probably put some RTV under it.

Is there a certain style or size/depth rivet that is needed for deflector and for top chrome trim piece by the edges of T-Tops?
Any help would be appreciated.

My Corvette Illustrated Parts Catalogue shows 1/4" - 3/8" x 3/16" for the rivets; same for t-bar and diverters.
If a sealant was used, the AIM will show it and list a description (or a part number) which may or may not help. Clear silicone would do in a pinch.

Easy Mike,
THANKS....EXACTLY the information that I was looking for. Also, for the record, I will be purchasing an AIM soon so that I can possibly lookup this information as well.
Thanks again,
