Default window louvers for a 68-77 how rare?

I am in the process of installing a 72 pop out window in my 77. I currently have a one piece window louver that gives me a lot of privacy. I have never seen another 68-77 window louver piece like this so I am wondering was this a hard to find piece or does someone else also have one? Richard

IF it is what I think it is ..Personally I;d install it on the inside wall of my garage....

BTW I converted my 76 to use a pre 72 removable window years ago...easy job as all the required holes are still in the car.

Hello,
I sent you a PM, I have seen those every now and then at a swap or a show. I think Cragar was selling them at one time. I had one on my Camaro and ... ahem ....a Mustang I once had.

Nothing rare about them. They were a cheap aftermarket add-on. J C Whiney sold a bunch of them. They came in the little plastic version that just covered the window, or the full lift-up version that connected the roof line with the tail like this:

Whats rare about them is not many survive today. I've been looking for a set for years.

Ya, these ones are the ABS plastic ones. I have a set, but am not sure if I'm gonna use them. I'd like to wither fab up a set of aluminum ones just like them, or find/make the long style like vettebuyer had. I found mine on eBay a while back too, I don't see them very often.....don't think I've ever seen them installed....even a Carlisle.

In answer to your 'header' question: 'Not rare enough....' Those things are strictly out of the 70's and just-plain-ugly when added to the gorgeous 'lines' of a C3. (This is only one opinion, of course...)

I like them on the full sloping rear windows of the later 70's - but not on the early 70's ones

Default window louvers update- tint pop out window

Well I finished the pop out window and to be honest is was a simple job. The hardest part was window gasket. Anyhow instead of reinstalling the window louvers have decided to get rear glass tinted. Now with the window out more fresh cool air but the best thing about it is hearing the roar of the engine/headers behind me. Thanks for the input guys, now my wall has a new/old decorative piece with some memeorable war stories. The stairway leading downstairs is a wall of past history. By the way anyone with a 73-77 who has not converted to the pop out window you are missing out on a whole new experience.

I've seen some C4 notchbacks, I'm wondering if they have a pop out window.

Busyb, I know the thread is 5 years old, but if you are interested in the style that Vettebuyer posted in his pic, I have a set for sale.
