Default What is the correct carb for a '78 L82?

I have gas leaking from the front of my carb where the throttle attaches so I need to remove it and repair/rebuild it. My car is a '78 L82 and the carb is a Holley but I am not sure what model. My question to the forum is, what is the correct carb for my motor? I assume it is some flavor of Quadrajet.

Thanks for the help guys. It turns out mine is actually 17058228 since my car is auto and a/c. Now I just need to find one that is a little less expensive than the $500 NOS one I found on ebay!

The Qjet for your 78 was tuned for emission control based on transmission.

GM# 17058211 was installed for four-speeds and carries broadcast code BHZ.

GM# 17058228 with code BJM was installed when M38 was called out with A/C.

GM# 17058210 was used with non A/C L82s. I've never seen one of these.

What's the code on your emission decal?

Since carb was changed out...are all the other emission control devices still in place?

I have a "non ac L82" however it is a 4spd. 211 & broadcast BHZ.

Think the 210 is for "non ac L82 autos". I would think a rare find.

Hey K...thanks for sharing. The NcRS tech manual does not provide that level of delineation. But than, the writers more than likely did not have access to a 210 for study. By any chance, do you have your build sheet? I have been working to identify all the carb codes for 78 and their applications and this information would help to confirm th 210 application. Also, can you shoot me a photo sometime of the Qjet code, GM# and date code? thanks.
