UPDATE:
Replaced all four capliers, all the pads, and brake lines. Ill have pis up as soon as i can.

Also, yesterday was a monumental moment, because I DROVE THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!

It was only around the block but it was a good feeling. I believe that teh master cylinder will need to be replaced in order to get the brakes 100%, but what I replaced is working just great.

Also, as for the drivability of the car, it all felt good, and it seemed to drive better the more I drove it. I guess it just had to get all the cob webs out

Ill be taking a video soon

So the 82 is now a running driving and stopping project, I moved it out of the garage for a little bit today to work a little on my brothers '79. We did the power steering on it. Anyways here are some more pics:

Ben you're quite the inspiration for many! Nothing beats hard work. You also are teaching a few that you don't need to replace part for part. Restoration means turning something old or worn into like new condition. That doesn't always mean throwing new parts at old! I love how you are taking the time to restore original pieces, as aftermarket crap is never as good as OEM. Good job buddy.

Looking Good Ben... Must be a nice feeling to take what someone probably assumed was a non salvageable car and quickly turn it around and getting it into running condition. I want to hear about your tricks restoring the old paint. Yer way ahead of me. I did not have 2 + Vettes at yer age.... Keep up the good work.

Why does everyone think that this car is so rough?
So what if the paint is faded, it can be brought back. Not everyone needs a flawless paintjob
SO what if the interior is trashed? All the big pieces are in great condition, and everything else can be either painted or just cleaned.
Maybe they just havent done this kind of work before, or maybe im just an optamist

You going to need any emblems? I might be willing to part with ones for the bumper and fender.

What about center caps? I was going to order 2 of them soon.

Had some free time yesterday between Cars and Coffee and work, so I decided to get the toothbrush out and start cleaning up the top of my engine. Its kinda crazy how nice its getting under there. I wish I had taken better before pics. Also, the new engine wiring harness from rebelrob makes it look even nicer

Got half way done with the passenger side floor today. I cut out all the rusty areas and made sure the edges are of sound metal and can take the heat of welding. All the rust that you see through the floor is from the center cut out section of the floor.

Note to those who have metal floors and have leaky cars:
This rust was caused by water coming in through the kick panel area. The rest of this car is solid as can be, but this is what happens when you leave moist carpet against metal. Check your cars!!

My car is half a flinstone car:

The old floor:

I am hoping by this Saturday to be welding in the new floor and then the interior resto can continue

today I also replaced the T-top chrome piece that goes inbetween the tops. Some BUBBA had drilled holes all the way across the front edge, and then wondered why it was leaking, so he then decided to run silicone all along the inside edge.... Just when you think you have seen it all

I also took about a half an hour to clean up a little of the interior trim. Here are some before and after pics:

I also have been spending like a half hour per day cleaning a little around the engine bay. I have some before and after pics of that as well. I know its not spotless, which is fine with me because I am far from doing a frame off ncrs restoration, BUT I think it al least looks better.
