1969 MA6 option L71 car
Ok guys, heres one for the experts. I own a 1969 corvette L71 427/435 MA6 ( heavy duty cluch) car. Now its said that they only made 102 of these cars with this option. I would like to know if its possible my car may have been the very last L71 corvette made with this option in 1969. Vin # is 738097. It is a Bloomington Certified Survivor car with only 39K and I have this original cluch intact. I was told yes its very very possible but just wondering if any of you out there may have fact information. Anyway, thanks

How would you know? It's my understanding the dual disc clutch was a very late appearing option to begin with.
What if you have the first one?
Have you read the blurb in Bizzoco's book?

I dont think thats possible unless they built 102 L71 corvettes the last 2 weeks in december of 69 and my car being 600 from the last production date? Not likely

Sounds like you have a nice car.
I've seen a car in the 38,6xx range that's an L-71/M-40 combination... Probably a few after that one if I had to guess.
The MA-6 option was available from at least April or May of 1969 and I wouldn't be surprised if it was earlier than that.
Just out of curiosity, what are the casting numbers on the heads? My guess is that they are 3964291s and not 3919840s even though that's what all the books say. I haven't seen an 840 head with anything later than an early June 1969 casting date.
Anybody see anything later than this?

Bizzoco says the announcement of the MA6 was received by dealers on 12/24/68 - yep, Christmas Eve. He documents a gentleman who ordered a new Corvette that day and included the brand spanking new MA6 option. It had to be handwritten on the Corvette order.
Due to delays with the MA6, his 69 was not received until April 16, 1969. It's the black convertible on the on the back cover. #20981.

Hi stan, thanks for the great follow up. Its a rare one with full documentation and 3 owners all of which are alive and love sharing pictures and memories. 2nd owner owned from 1974 to 2008 where than it was bought and brought right to Bloomingtion for the survivor award. Yes, they are 840 heads and this car has never been apart. Every note, oil change, tire change etc recorded since new. Oh by the way the original owner took delivery on New years eve 1969. Still has the original Goodyear red lines that he ordered iit with. He is still alive and well and nothing better documents a car than talking to the owners and having all the original documents. If any book tells you 840 heads did not come on late cars, their wrong, 100% wrong. Remember we also had the strike.
Actually, I'm surprised that it does have the 840s. I'd be grateful if the next time you adjust the valves, you'd take a look at the casting date for those heads... Might prove interesting!

Sounds like a fantastic car... Post some photos if you get a chance. I'd love to see what it looks like.

Very much so... Thanks for posting them!
Good info... That still falls in line with what I've observed over the years. You just don't see any 840 heads cast after June 1969. I'm just very surprised a car as late as yours still has them installed.
Again, thanks for checking and posting the information... That's one of the ways we are able to learn about these cars.
