Default Seat Belt Warning Light Button

The seat belt button on my 1969 Corvette popped out (yes the seat belt light still works). What holds it in? I put the button and spring in and it keeps falling out. Do I have to remove the center gage console to lock the button in?

Yes you will have to pull the gauge cluster out. There is a speed type little nut on the end that has little tabs that bite into the plastic rod on the back of the button.

It is a cheap fix but a pita. All the parts catologues have the nut.

Probably. They mount from the rear. Your original may be worn enough it may not stay in place after the hassle of removing the cluster. Order a reproduction tell-tale. ZIP has them. Other vendors will also have them.

Here's the back side and the clip that holds the button. Don't do what I did and push the clip on too far! The light won't come on if you do. I'm not looking forward to taking mine apart again just to fix that friggen mistake!
