Wait... You want WHAT for your car?!?!?! (PICS)
So as many of you know, I buy alot of parts and project vettes that no one else really wants. As this being a side business of mine, I often ask my friends to keep thier eyes out for any C3 that they see in my area.
Last night my friend tipped me off about a 77 Corvette that he had found sitting in someones driveway VERY close to my house. As I usually find my cars on CL, i was excited to find something that was relativly close.
So i get to the house, and the guy immediatly tells me how he wont accept less than 5K for the car. He keeps going on about how he has "taken care" of the car, and that it runs, drives, and stops.
He keeps repeating, "I just want to get out of it what I paid for it..."
So you buy a car a decade ago, pay 5K, let it sit OUTSIDE for ten years, and then expect to get 5K for it?
Im temped to show up with 1K in cash and see if he bites. Ill tell you what, this guiy was the opposite of a "motivated Seller." Oh, I have his contact info if anyone is interested.
On to the pics!

Melting Slicks
Wonder how long he ran it without the air filter cover and how much of that "birds nest" the engine ingested.

Burning Brakes
He could not get $5,000.00 for both of those cars. However if someone bought both, maybe they could build something blending the two of them together. Wonder what would look like?As a matter of fact, I think i've seen that happen on ebay listed as a one of a kind.

Yeah, thats what ran through my mind the second it came out of his mouth. The interesting thing is that he kept telling me all the things it would need before it would be road worthy... brakes exhaust tune up etc, but he stuck with his 5k price. Guess ill go back in a couple of years and talk to him, bc he will still have it

Hi,
I think he's soon going to need to get a dumpster in place of that trash can.
Regards,
Alan

So, he decided to keep the primo red C4 instead?
What exactly transpired after you looked the car over? Did you say, "the car doesn't even have salvage value, I'll give you $500?" Or "$5000 seems a little high?" I always like to know what people like this say.
Last year I drove an hour to see a red '69 convertible that was "running, fairly complete" for $10k. I brought $10k with me, thinking "how bad could it be?" It was worse. He was stunned that not only did I walk away, I made no offer at all. These cars are all over.
As I always say, there is no car owner more delusional about the value of his car like a Corvette owner.
