High rise/cowl hood vendors?
I'm curious as to who all is out there and what options exist. I may be talking myself in to getting one to go along with my repaint.
I know of Vanacor and I know Eklers sells them, but I wondered if there were others out there that folks had experience with.
Pics are always appreciated. I find that I don't really like the L88 look on the 80-82's that much, but to each his own. The plain raised cowl look is growing on me.
Thanks.

I am getting the mold for a 80-82 Daytona hood next week. It is the Ecklers one, but without the side vents. The vents were taped over when the mold was made.
If you are interested, I can pop a hood for you.
The hood has the same lines as the factory 80-82 hood.

I bought the Ecklers hood to go with my color change repaint a few months ago. It's a good fit though the front point is slightly lower than the body but a good filler and block sanding can fix it. The high rise cowl has an opening (approximately 1 1/2") between the cowl and rear crossmember where the hood latches mount. It is taller than an L-88 hood that doesn't have this opening.

Yeah, I hate the side vents, that is why I have them cut off. It really looks like the 80-82 factory hood with a 2 1/2" cowl.
I don't like the other cowl hoods (73 to 79 style) on the 80-82 cars, becasue they are basically an early model hood with a squared off front. The later models have the coke bottle neck in the front that keeps the factory lines. It looks like you have a nolder hood on your newer car. I like the sharp edges of the 80-82 hoods.
Good luck with your search.
I have either the hoods or the molds for the the turbo hood, the L88 hood (short & long), and factory hoods for most years just lying around the shop. Mike is making a mold of the L88 long hood this week so I can make some for a few friends.

I bought an L88 for my 73 a few years ago, but decided to not use it on the car when I re-painted it. My friend, Mike wanted to make a mold of it so he can reproduce it.
This shot is the hood with the red tooling gelcoat and three layers of glass on it. Next week, he is going to add some metal conduit to brace the mold, and make the mold of the inner structure. When he is done, we can reproduce the hood in black gelcoat.
I don't know if the 73 and 77 latches are the same, but if they are, then to answer your question, "Yes".
Do you want me to make you one?
He is going to make me a high-rise hood for my 82 out of the Daytona mold I pictured above, only not have the side blocks and vents on it. It will look like a factory hood, until you park next to one and realize it is 2.5" taller than stock.

I know you said no L88 hoods but.... I thought I would throw out a pic of a 4" L88 so you can see how much room you gain...
You can see the height the best from the rear opening of the scoop
I can stuff this under it...
Wiper door and everything clears fine, Hood is the high rise L88 from Vanacores, great quality!...

Thanks for all the pics. the L88 looks good on the earlier car, but it's just not my thing on the 80-82's.
I am liking the simple look of the Ecklers hood on palmbeach's car.
