Default 1976 Aluminum Radiator and Elec. fans ??

Hello Corvette Forum...

I was changing my radiator hoses on my recently purchased 76 L82 Early. Busted a hole in the radiator trying to lift the shroud to get the lower hose installed.

Flipped out and ripped the shroud out in a million pieces. Went online to find out the shroud on a 76 early can cost close to a dime.

My father-in law has a 57' rag-top and he runs an aluminum radiator with electric fans.

My question is has anyone done this and had any problems or can point me in the right direction before I jump in?

Thanks for your help.

I just put a Dewitts direct-fit in my '76 and couldn't be happier. Quality piece and relatively easy installtion.

Dewitts is the way to go for aluminum.

Me, being a cheap *** 11 years ago, I had the stock radiator recored with a 4 tube BB core and put an electric 16" Permacool fan on it. I fabricated the mounting brackets rather than use the ties through the radiator. No problems cooling my modified 383.

BTW, mine is an early '76 L-48.

Man, you just brought a smile to my face.
I am going to see if there is a radiator shop that can save the mess I made of this thing and I will do the same thing. GREAT IDEA!!

Default Radiator

Well, found a radiator man to save my brass!!
Now I need to get the electrical fan set-up.
I will order the dual fan kit from Dewitts or if I find one equal for less.

Best way to wire the fan in?

Thanks for your help and hope to see you all at Carlisle.
Lastly, anyone have a 73-76E radiator core support?
