Default Interior Restoration - recommendations, carpet, seat upholstery?

My 69 Corvette needs carpet, the rear is nice and is good shape but there is nothing in the front. Also the seats need a panel or two, the drivers seat has some tears. The seats are factory black vinyl.

Should I replace all of the upholstery? bring it to an interior shop and have them put in matching panels to replace the sections that are damaged?

If I replace all of the seat upholstery, what kits are good and what is a good price range.

Also who do you guys recommend for a carpet kit? can I purchase only a front section? i.e from the firewall to behind the front seats.

Thanks, Tim

There are plenty places that sell front only packages. It seems like they all seem to get the kits from the same manufacturer though.

Wilcox seems to have the best prices.

Especially with the discounts they give forum members, its hard to beat their prices. Especially when the actual part comes from the same source.

FWIW: your pretty new front carpet will probably not match your existing 40 yr old rears. If anything, the rears are likely to look older after you've installed new fronts.

Can you do any of the work yourself? You can purchase an interior package, but having a shop do all the install will cost you.

Yes, I am able to do it all myself, even the upholstery if that is the route I go.

The rear carpet does look great, maybe I will do a recolor/dye on it or simply replace the whole thing

Likely will pick up these newly reupholstered seats on Sunday.

Thanks for the input, Tim

Willcox always has sales on interior kits...

The full carpet set cant cost much more than the front set, do it right the first time and replace it all, you'll be very satisfied...

I wish slapping together and driving would work... but that's usually not the case.. Something always breaks.

Vcuomo: We now have Al's stuff listed on the forum special section too.. for those that want Knoch, you'll find it there..
