Saw more cars here in your post than I did on TV.

Steve, what is your overall opinion of the quality of cars there? We all hear the stories of Barrett-Jackson prices being inflated. Do you think the majority of cars were worth the prices bid for them?

Corvettes weren't any better than at Mecum. There were some nice restorations, but several of the cars had obvious technical (NCRS talk, eeek) errors (incorrectly painted items, wrong design parts) when they were touted as "fully restored." NCRS stickers and license plates everywhere, but didn't guarantee anything. B/J has a window sticker that a car has received an "NCRS award" but at least in one case, a close inspection suggests it might have been a Third Flight a long time ago.
Regarding prices, my opinion is that many individual sales were too high for the market but on the whole they were not terribly out of line. There were lots of very good buys throughout the week. Its the absolute crazy (drunken?) TV time bidding wars that everyone talks about, like the goof buying the Eleanor Mustang or a couple of the restomods. That just comes with the territory. There were some very solid buys that didnt make it to the TV screen though.
People have to just understand that it's a day of special circumstances and some sale prices will have no basis in the market.
All that said, I had an absolute great time and thoroughly enjoyed my week. Ive been to B/J a few times and this was just great fun. I would suggest it to anyone who loves to look at really nice cars in a fun atmosphere in beautiful weather.
Love to be in Kissimmee, but I need to get off the road for awhile.
