Craigslist Find: 72 Vette
So I came across this listing for a 1972 Corvette located about 40 min away from me: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/2842088459.html
The $13,500.00 asking price caught my attention, so I thought I would go check it out. Photos were spot on, but engine and drivetrain need lots of attention. Here's some of what I found:
+ Vacuum operated Headlight system not functional. Complete, but inop
+ Wipers inop
+ Stress cracks in paint on tops of both fenders near hood
+ Chips in Paint at nose
+ Chrome bumpers in great shape
+ Lower air dam damaged on left front
+ Currently White in color, but should be Steel Cities Grey
+ Trim Tag: K15 988 Exterior Color, 400 Interior
+ Engine Code: V0601CDJ
+ Build Sheet: Possibly still in place according to owner. Could not verify
+ Oil leaking from everywhere. No leaks at reat diff
+ Starter grinds when starting car. Might need to be shimmed properly
+ Bangs into reverse
+ Pulls hard right
+ Control Arm bushings worn out
+ Interior in good shape, Panels appear to be all original. Jack is in place
+ Frame in great shape w/ very minimul rust
+ Original Engine. VIN Confirmed on front pad
+ Trans - Guessing Turbo 350, but hard to tell as it was getting dark
+ A/C Inop
+ Heater Core bypassed
I'm sure is more, but this is what comes to mind at the moment. Basically a Corvette that needs a lot of TLC. I was halfway considering to purchase it, but being the **** as$ that I am, I am going to pass. I don't think his asking price is too unreasonable. But with the above in mind, you might be able to negotiate a bit. Just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else might be interested...
