Hi guys,

I'm thinking about purchasing a 69 stingray convertible. There is just one thing holding me back. I'm 6'7" and about 260. I'm really worried about fitting in the car. I had a C5 previously and that had room. The C6 I owned was spacious but not like the C5. I'm especially worried about my left leg since its a 4-speed manual.

I really like the car I'm looking at, but if I don't fit what's the point?

Also, is this a descent C3 to be getting into? Right price?

i am gonna say no but if you keep the top down you should be ok

but i am 5'8" so i fit in anything and i could very easily be wrong

Looks like a nice car, but I think you could do better on price for a small block convertible '69. LeMans blue is a great color though!

If you do get one, please have someone take a video of you trying to get into it for the first time.

I am 6'3'' (and 230), and my head almost touches the T-top. My car is a '79 4-speed manual, and it is ok, except in the traffic, because you have to keep your leg up. If you have to use the clutch a lot, it becomes a hassle. Fortunately, the torque of the 350 allows to cruise in 4th gear all the time. You lay also have issues with your right leg, because my leg is folded, and I have to move my knee to get in 1st gear.

Have you gone to look at the car in person yet?
Let me just say , if you go their site i was looking at the Grey 71 , Huge , Huge dissappointment upon my arrival after driving 5 hours only to be told it isn't even there , it's on consignment , they didn't know anything about the car.
They got a hold of the owner , he brought it down and let's just say things aren't always as they appear in photos ... Sometimes NOT EVEN CLOSE.

You have to have a tilt column, Im 6'4 260 and have no problems fitting in my 69 convertible

Its not fun holding your left foot back from the clutch all the time and your knee will be into the steering wheel all the time.

At 6'2" & 260 there's no problem. A tilt wheel would really be a plus, but only a minor inconvenience with the standard wheel. If a tilt wheel is not on the car, I would think a wheel that is slightly smaller would help a lot in lieu of a tilt wheel.

Are you near the dealership? Go in and take a test fit. I think $33K is bordering on being high, but you have dealership involved.

Even with the seat all the way to the rear, your knees will be bent. Most folks will still be comfortable enough for 100 mile trips. Owning a '69 4-speed ragtop, my biggest concern is that folks like you at 6' 7" have commensurately sized feet; not exactly dainty. The footwell size, and the way vacuum hoses and wires under the dash are so close by the pedals, I just don't see you working those controls, especially the clutch, safely. I tried sneakers, boat shoes, penny loafers, you name it. None work as well as Simpson racing low top driving shoes. And my feet are only size 9 1/2. Headroom should be the least of your concerns.

I'm 6-4 240 and all leg's 36" inseam... So you might do as suggested, go sit in the car and see how you feel. I don't have any issue with my head clearance, but I can not drive a manual shift car if it doesn't have tilt wheel. I really don't sit much higher in a seat than someone much shorter.

you may have to wear goggles with your head over the windscreen, {Or sunglasses}....

I wear a size 16 shoe and have no problem with the pedals

There is no way I could put my left foot anywhere other than hovering over the clutch driving in traffic.
I couldn't rip it up past all the pedals fast enough in an emergency to push that clutch pedal down.

I agree, go sit and also drive it. I would have never bought my 79 if it had of been manual, I'm 6'1" but all legs my knee would have hit the steering wheel. I am comfortable in mine but I am still thinking of getting the glass tops for some extra headroom.

Well I am ONLY 6'1 and I have no problem in my 72 76 or 79 C3's...

BUT BABY if you replace the seat foam your head is going to allow you to see OVER the top of the windshield on a t-top removed car or a Convertible...

I replaced the foam and seat covers in my 72 Convertible years ago and suffered one entire summer..I stored the car with a CINDER BLOCK on the drivers seat the following 2 winters..now its is perfect....

Well, im 6'2", and 230 or so with an automatic I fit fine, my left leg is against the door, gla i have no clutch. My head is just a few inches from the top. I have a friend that is 6'4" and over 300. when he is in the car he has to keep his head cocked to the side. I would be real leary of fitting. only thing that might help would be a glass top.
