Default Wife and I go on a cruise...

She teaches and her spring break started today, so we got up and headed out....

We get in to Kansas..

And drive for MILES without seeing another vehicle....

Wind up back in Oklahoma at the Greater Salt Plains Wildlife Refuge.....

And as the sunsets....

We make it back home....

LIFE IS GOOD!

Starting mileage, then ending mileage in the last photo. 311 mile cruise.

It was.....the passenger electric window quit working...burned a quart of oil... got bugs all over the front end....heat still coming from the vents, jumped out of 4th gear twice, power steering started squealing, steering column buzzer stuck on, back fired thru the carb once on start up....... but, it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

I know.....it's probably valve guides... but, it is what it is....
GOOD news is we averaged almost 17MPG!
We pull in and say filler with oil and check the gas........

I had a rebuild in my 1980 3,000 miles ago. I still seem to burn oil. Not quite as much as you did but I'm always watching oil and gas levels. Congrats on getting your wife to drive around with the tops off, mine won't. Looks like a great time. These sort of ventures are just 1 of the reasons I enjoy my car. MADE TO BE DRIVEN!

Nice 300 plus mile drive in the country with no traffic Hard to find roads that aren't filled with cars around here.
