Default 75 Interior Resto Plus

Alright... Here we go.

I bought my first vette, January 6th 2012. Dream come true. And yes, 3 months later I'm still loving it. But Interior restorations aren't all that easy, I've discovered.

I thought I was just pulling the funny smellin old lookin carpet out. That's what I thought. Then I pulled ALL the interior pieces out, re-dyed everything, (The parts ate up my office and bar)

Did I mention, I dyed everything, including the seats?

Built a speaker box to blow the clothes off any pretty ladies nearby.

Threw in a new stereo (well it's not exactly IN yet)

Dynamat and Reflectix, plus a lot of 3m adhesive and aluminum tape later...

Even Rubbercoated and Dynamat-ed the storage boxes

I'm thinking about Reflectix on the inside of the Parking Break Cover... Overkill? I don't know I'm like butter... I'm on a roll.

I do have a question or two... Did I go high enough under the steering column with the heat dampener???

As for the warnings about allowing pedal room, is it wise that I'd rather cut the jute off the carpet (Which arrives Wednesday, not a moment too soon.) and have the Reflectix there to save my feet from the heat, or should I cut out the Reflectix now???

And lastly, how did I ever underestimate the time and donero involved in "justing pulling the carpet"?

Thanks for looking in on another rookie learning slowly about the obsession that is Corvette Resto-Mod --inginstuff.

Looking good so far. As for the hushmat at the steering column, I think that is good, the fiewall barrier, above, should do the rest.

Take the sound deadener and reflectix all the way up the firewall. The engine radiates heat thru there and the tranny tunnel. I put hushmat in the storage area but not reflectix. Keep going, you will like the difference.

Thanks Rog... That's my sister and her son and daughter and the bean pole is my boy. Poor bugger looks just like me. The lottery tickets were my financing plan for the crate motor I'd like.

Actually, the door panels are in such good shape I don't think I even need to redye. That could rub off a high friction area like that anyway. BUT not the seats, they definately won't rub off the seats... (Wishful thinking? Jedi mind trick?)

I'm at it again today. I have to put the tach back together and reinstall the dash (don't crack baby, just bend)... All the while waiting for my carpet to arrive. C'mon Wilcox.

I'll post pics of the door panels when I update later tonight.

Aside from a corona in a hammock in the Carribean, i can't think of too many better ways to spend a spring break. I'm driving that bad boy Saturday. Thanks for the compliments and the looks.

Looking good! This is something I'd like to do in the future so I appreciate the photos.

I have to ignore Sarge's avatars - they make me lightheaded.

I did my 76 with sound deadener and then reflectix. I would run the stuff up as far as I can since you have it all apart and you are waiting on carpet. I got carpet from Wilcox and just laid it in the car without glueing it down. I am going to have to take a lot of it out again for some wiring of the stereo and different things and so I just laid it in, but it fits like a glove and I was very impressed with the quality. Hope you have the same findings.
Can we see a better picture of your speaker box?
Good luck. Should look great.
