HEI 12v switched lead hookup wire
Ok, I realize this should be simple considering what I have done so far but yesterday, with my meter, I couldn't find a 12v switched lead under the dash. I've heard it's a "pink" wire. Can anyone point out where I can pick up a 12v switched lead? That would be .
Thanks, Fred

What DZRick said.
Use a 12ga. wire, and a 90* terminal. It will help keep the wire out of the way of your feet. Leave some extra length, and route the wire well up to the distributor area before you make the final termination. You'll hardly notice it's there.

The yellow wiper motor wire is IMO too "light" to splice my new 12 gauge wire into - it appears to be 18g and IMO, not suitable for HEI power - even though others use it.
I did find the "pink" lead ignition wire that is 12v switched - it's on top of the steering column. Its a bear to get at but I already have the steering column dropped and the dash out - so I was going to use that and will, unless I get the IGN fuse block terminal to give me juice.

Fred, that's exactly what I did after seeing a wiring diagram for a 75 which shows that it was done from the factory that way (excuse my hand sketch).
Used a Scotchlock T

Fred,
Don't have wiring diagrams at work, but you should be able to tap off of the existing wire in front of the resistor section to get 12v. I seem to remember it being in the harness in the engine compartment in mine.
Or just slice into the harness near the switch.

If not already, member "papawana" will send you a scan of your cars wiring diagram, if you PM him an e-mail. No matter what power source you decide to go with, would highly recommend going with automotive heat rated wire, and good solid electrical connections, as this is one thing that can leave you stranded. Most better automotive places should have this, or check the Waytek Wire site.

No, not really - I don't have a IGN tab in my fusebox. What I did find was a brown switched lead, about 14 gauge, that conviently has a extra slot for a male connector. No photo at this time. I plan to use that.
