Kansas City trusted mechanic?
Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Kansas City area (specifically Johnson County, KS) that they like and trust with their 'Vette? My usual guys will be fine but I just thought I'd see what people think as I prepare to buy my first Corvette. Thanks.

There is a shop in Kearney MO- across the planet from JOCO-- that does nothing but Corvettes. I've seen some of his work- very good quality, I haven't personally used him- I do all my own, except for machine work.

I live in Lee's Summit and i go to Diamond Muffler Off 50 HWY. It is a great shop!! They replaced my engine and do all my mechanics and its reasonably priced!

Midwest Corvettes, in Kearney, MO you are referring to....no longer in business. I believe they were shut down by the feds. Recieved notification from NCRS advising of the investigation. Damn shame. They did great work, supposedly made some bad decisions that got them in a lot of trouble. Not really sure where to go now...
Depending on what you are looking to have done, below are some other places around the KC area you can check out:
+ Ray Boyle's Corvette Village - Shawnee Mission, KS
+ Marks Fiberglass & Paint - Shawnee Mission, KS
+ Vintage Vettes - North KC
+ Corvette Specialists - Blue Springs, MO

Corvette Specialist is amazing! I get all my fiberglass done there and his friend a little down the road (2 Blocks) Robins Garage does great mechanics and such

I wonder what Midwest did to get them in hot water? If the feds were in it I'd bet it was odometer or VIN stuff. Shame too. They did a ZL-1 clone that was near perfect. And I know he never advertised it as anything EXCEPT a clone.

I have the same wonder myself. I talked with the owner at the Vet show in Indep at the square, he seemed like my kind of a guy to work on my car.
I have a few things that I do not wish to tackle and Midwest was my choice for the work. Disappointing

Corvette Village ?? They are off Antioch and I-35 That would be in Merriam. In fact they have a new location on the North side of I-35 and east side of Antioch between Merriam Land and I-35. Bigger place, I go by there often. That is if we are talking about the same Corvette Village !!

"I wish to thank all of those who have believed in me this past year and stood ready to speak up for the truth. The unfortunate part of all of this is that the emotional and financial part has taken its toll on myself and my family, and for that reason I will no longer be able to operate our shop as it is today. As of march 9th, I will be closing the shop..."
Like I said, it was a damn shame to hear about this. I don't know of any other shop that did the extent of work they did, offered open houses, welcomed anyone that stopped by to take a look and see what they were building, and were always there to provide guidance and support, even if you didn't buy parts from them..
PS: Yes, I remember the ZL-1 Clone they built....white with red stripes!
