What part is this?
I am replacing my u-joint. My mechanic gives me this part and says its the problem. What is the name of this part?

Well make sure he installs a new pinion seal too.. and make sure it goes in correctly. You can install the 80-82 seal backwards and you'll get a leaker 100 percent of the time.

OK. You got two different answers here. It is the pinion yoke. The pinion yoke has the Universal joint held on by two straps that bolt into the yoke and it has recesses where the U-joint sits.
On the Rear Spindle flange, the U-joint is pressed into holes in each side of the flange. Your picture is the pinion yoke because it does not have the holes. It has the recesses and bolt holes for the straps.
Looking at the first picture only, it is easy to confuse the two parts.
