Thought I'd contribute to this thread. Posted two of these when I first came on board, but added a couple more. 1968 base convertible 327/300hp, 4-speed, no power options. Cloth top, LT-1 hood. Lowered a few inches.
I think a C3 in black is looking absolutely beautiful in my opinion, very elegant like a Tux, and offsets the Chrome accents very nice on the early C3's. I personally would prefer my car to be shiny black too... Just dont want to brake away from the original that I have. Early C3's in black are somewhat rare...

My car was originally red. When I bought it 40 years ago it had been painted root beer brown with gold panels down the side with flames and geometric shapes and lace..crazy busy, but a sign of the times. I stripped it down and drove it in red oxide primer for 3 years before painting it burgundy. Drove it that way for another 20+ years before restoring it nose to tail. I've owned 3 black cars and each time swore I would never own another, but low and behold when it came time to chose a color, I went with black again because there are so many red ones and for the very reasons you described. It just looks so elegant.
