Orange you glad it's not red?
Anytime I show someone my '76 work in progress, the first question I always get is "What color are you going to paint it?", to which I can't help respond "Hell if I know...". Car is currently red, over the original yellow. I don't care much for yellow on a Vette, and red is a little too common. So I go to thinking "What about Orange?" I've been considering hugger orange with black accents (monza headlight buckets, mirrors, front spoiler, and maybe a stripe).
So please post pictures of Orange Vettes, especially Hugger or other non-OEM shades.

Car was gray primer with red under it. While removing that found orange . Behind door panels also found orange. Repainted with original factory 1977 #66 Orange.

Although it is "factory correct", I never really cared much for the Corvette Orange paint color. But, Ontario Orange (early 70's Corvette color) with the FireMist metallic in it is spectacular! The Atomic Orange of more recent vintage Corvettes or that Inferno Orange are very attractive colors, as well.

I know you said you didn't want red but go take a look at on of the later model Vettes with Torch Red in the sunlight. It sold me and I have loved Torch Red ever since, fifteen years.

Re:
Greetings!
My 1970 Corvette convertible was repainted in 1978 by Chevrolet
according to records obtained from the second owner to a 1969 color -
Monaco Orange after the original paint had flaked off.
I owned a 1968 Camaro RS back in 1988 that was Hugger Orange.
It was a bit darker than what appears on my current 1970 Corvette but
under different lighting conditions, I sometimes think its Hugger Orange.
As for the yellow, I had a 1972 all original, Sunflower Yellow car and it was beautiful.
Its all about what you want. If I had the available funds to strip and repaint my car, as a purist, I would pick the original color,
especially for reasons of resale if, you are restoring back to original factory condition.
However, if it's a Resto Mod, then original paint color would no longer affect its value because its no longer a "correct" car.
Orange could be a viable option.
Click on my photos to see color.
Good luck with your decision.

I have a 69 vert that is orig. Monaco Orange. It was painted a version of gold back in early 70s. It has since been stripped and I was going through the same thing as you. I love the orange on the 1st gen Camaros, but orange on a Corvette is a little much for my taste. It reminds me too much of the General Lee. I have decided to go w/ Black and a Balwin Motion rear/mid stripe theme in dark grey to match the Rev Classic 100 rims that are now on the car. Bottom line, make it what you want and enjoy. Obviously, I am not a purist and never plan on selling the car anyway. Who knows, it may be orange one day.
