Default Carburetor solenoid

Hi everyone

I removed the solenoid that you can see in the picture, because I deleted the whole airco system, and there was a wire that was attached to asm.
The vette is a 77 L48 Th350.
Now I am hesitating if it would be better to reinstall the solenoid...

Do I need the solenoid? The car is only street driven.

This is a fast idle solenoid that is energized when the air conditioning is turned on.

Simple answer is no, you no longer have a compressor.
If your L48 had a manual transmission with AC it would NOT have had a solenoid anyways. Automatics just needed that bump of around 200 rpms in drive at a stop.

I think that is the anti-dieseling solenoid. To prevent run-on after the ignition is turned off. One way to find out, see if that wire is hot with the key in run position. (A/C off)

Thank you guys!
I think I will leave it off for the time being.
I'll see if the dieseling-problem is present when driving and parking the car several times.

If it turns out that it is a "anti diesel solenoid" following 1 Hotrodz test above, then idle speed is set by turning the hex head bolt sticking out of the solenoid. Then when the key is turned off and the solenoid de-energized. the throttle plates close completely shutting of the air supply to the carburator.
