Default 1981 C3 Anything special

Hey guys I am looking at 1981 Vette and wondering if there is anything in these cars I should be looking for in the VIN or Trim tag that I could identify that might make it more rare for that year? VIN is 1G1AY8765BS400898 and trim tag says Chevrolet B02 Trim152 and13L paint. It is silver upper and Grey lower. Were there any special engines, ect. for that year? I do know it is #'s matching and the dealer swears it is 39K original miles but I am suspect....LOL
Oh! Think I can get it bought for $4000 anf test drove it today, it also comes with a new set of door panels and carpet kit.

Thanks!
FatCat!

There is nothing special about the 81's, onlly 1 engine and it was weak. Asuming yours is original, Its the first and only year with the E4ME electronic carb and distributoe and CCC (Computer Command and Control). It works but is not very flexible and only tuneable to a point. The carb is a 750 cfm Quadrajet which will run a pretty impressive HP motor, but it takes dome doing to get any real power from an 81. Things like true dual exhaust, really going through the carb and making sure it is doing what it is supposed to do, a bumpier cam and better heads all are possible to run with the CCC system intact.
I am turning the last corners on a full on frame off restomod on my 81, I don't want to think about how much I spent on it, but the paint and body are gonna be killer.
Built in a few more ponies, better suspension, brakes, 4 speed auto with overdrive, etc, etc...
Your odometer probably turned over, but WTF, if you like it, do it.
We will e here to help you sort it out

Got to agree there. There is nothing wrong with an 81, it just has its own special things to think about when making mods
