I'm not sure what the action item is here. This bill has passed and now people need to order plates? Is it basically giving people the option to order correct plates for the year of manufacture of their vehicle?

I guess we need to order plates, pay the monies, and hope there's enough. They already have this, but it stops at model year 1969. I'll sign up, if I can find the legit form.

(e) (1) The department shall not establish the California Legacy
License Plate Program until the department has received not less than
2,500 paid applications for plates. The department shall collect and
hold applications for the plates. The department shall not issue a
specialized license plate until it has received not less than 2,500
paid applications for the particular plates within the time period
prescribed in this section.

The department shall have until January 1, 2014, to receive
the required number of applications. If, after that date, 2,500 paid
applications have not been received, the department shall immediately
refund to all applicants all fees or deposits that have been
collected.

Here's more details about it; http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...01120120AB1658

This one says 7,500 by Jan 1, 2015. So actually getting plates may be a ways off.

Do I have to go to the DMV to apply for these or is there a form on their website?
