Mako72's Funfest trip
Went to the MidAmerica Corvette Funfest in Effingham, IL yesterday.
Weather was beautiful. Here's a few pics for those who didn't get to go.
At 6am met up with some friends at a Shell station and filled up with 93. Decided to brave the mid 50 temps and pulled the t-tops and rear window.
Friend's '08 Z06 and '00 'vert. The 2000 'vert he bought at Funfest last year.
'08 Z06's have good headlights and that's low beams.
Just over this hill is a nice looong straightaway. The vette was loving the cool weather, what can I say.
Halfway to Effingham we stopped for a great breakfast.
MidAmerica, looking for Gate 4.
We arrived early. Here's the first 4 cars at the Corvette Forum parking. Later I counted about 10 vettes parked there.
C1 vintage racer.
For Sale car corral area.
Nice '68 for sale.
Nice BB 'vert for sale.
No dumpster diving allowed.
Corvette plant engineers were on hand with the new 2013 Corvettes.
Here's the new 427 'vert.
New 2013 Corvettes.
Nice RamJet.
Nice widebody.
Another one.
CF member Spedaleden's beautiful C3.
Nice '71
This 9 year old was telling me this BB '69 is his. I believe him. He would start it up for anyone who asked. Sounded great.
ACI fiberglass was there with their products with a 10% show discount. Nicely made hood.
We left for home around 4pm. Stopped for a nice dinner and many refreshments The ole gal ran great, never missed a beat. Made it home around 9pm. Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Charles,
Thanks for the kind words, but I won this at Mid America. Not sure if it means anything or not, but I think when ever I go to Mid America, I get to park in the winners circle.

Glad everyone enjoyed the pictures. It was a perfect day for a Corvette show.
Spedaleden: Dennis, congratulations on the award. Your car certainly deserves it!
Chevymans 77: Neal, I hope to see you next year on the Power Tour. They'll be traveling west to east (Arlington TX to Charlotte NC). Maybe you can hit some of the legs that are north of you.

You ain't gonna believe this but right now I'm on B&H's site. Think I've settled on the Canon EF-S 15-85mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM for a walk around lens. A little slow but in my budget. Now if I had your money.....

The 18-85 will make a great walk around lens. I use my 17-40 more then anything in my bag of len's. Its a fixed 4.0 but is fast enough to shoot without a flash in most situations. Your going to like the IS because you know us old guys just are not as steady handed as we used to be..
