Very Slow/Weak Power Windows... Whats the Fix?
i have a 1975 Vette, and the power windows are very slow to go up and down and very weak as in the window will not go all the way up or down unless i open the door. i wanted to know if its usually the regulators that make the windows slow or is it the Motor itself? i have already seen both regulators and motors. when i first bought the car only one window worked so i fixed the other window and greased up all the tracks
Should i change both the Regulator and the motor?
or can i change just the spring in the regulator?
what do you guys recommend?

The most likely causes are that the switches are carboned up and have more resistance than they should. The second choice is that the ground wire(s) for the window motors is making poor contact or is nearly frayed thru. It is unlikely that both motors are going out at the same time.

with that in mind though anything that would cause a low voltage condition at the window regulator terminals would cause the same condition.wiring switch etc.

My 74 passenger window was so slow it barely went up. Just spray lube wd40 down the sliders and lube everything your window will be dirty but just clean it your window will fly up and down

Had the same problem in my 69,changed motor.Windows go up in down liked greased lightning.Remember that alot of the electrical parts are over 40yrs old they do get tired and have to be changed out.

ok guys i'll try those few things, i thought these being the original motors/regulators that they would be the culprit but i guess it is the wiring i'll check it out thank you

Melting Slicks
also make sure the regulator coil springs are intact, the motor cant raise the window very well without the help of the spring.

Burning Brakes
Check for low voltage at the motors, This system has many connections, each connection is an area for voltage drop. I rectified or some call it Bubbafied my 81 by installing relays for the window's. The console switch basically only operates the relay which now has constant stable voltage. The windows work so much better than originally. Good luck Al

Voltage level is probably fine; current draw is likely down, which causes the motors to run slow.
If you decide to 'dicker' with the switches, I suggest that you try to disassemble the factory switches and clean the contacts. The original switches are a much better switch than what you can get today. Just clean off any burnt/discolored/corroded stuff on the contacts and put some dielectric grease on the contacts before assembling (get it at Radio Shack). That will keep them from arcing/burning again (at least for several years).
When you remove the switches, label them as to which is left and right, and also note the orientation of each switch...so you can reinstall them in exactly the same way.
