Question on trim tag
On my 1982 Silver with dark blue interior the first three numbers on the second line read 221. Everywhere I've looked it lists 22c or 222 as the dark blue code. Can anyone help me with this. I know it's not a big deal but I'm real curious. Thank you! J-

82 trim tags can be odd at times. 22 would be dark blue; L or 1 (maybe) could indicate leather. 222 could also be leather. C would be cloth.

The "2" and "C" (as in 222 and 22C), were strictly used as ordering codes.
For ordering proposes, 82 leather interiors used a 3 digit code ending in "2", while cloth interior ordering codes ended in "C". The only place the "2" and "C" were used was in the dealer ordering process, and at the assembly plant for producing the car.
All 81 and 82 Bowling Green tags, have a three digit interior trim code ending with an "I". It makes no difference if the car was built with a leather or cloth interior. You will never find a Bowling Green trim tag using the "2" or the "C". Dark Blue leather and Dark Blue cloth, both appear on trim tags as 22I.
There is no way of determining from the trim tag, if an 81 or 82 Corvette built at Bowling Green, originally came with a leather or cloth interior. The first 2 digits, indicate the interior color (such as 22 for Dark Blue, 13 for Slate Gray, & 64 for Camel), but the third digit will always be an "I".
