68 Speedometer face plate
Hello, I would like to replace face plates of the speedometer and tachometer in my Corvette 68. There are 68 tachometer face plates available but I don't find speedometer one. There are only for '72-74. I don't see the difference on the photos between 68 and 72. Does anyone know if '72 face plates fit '68 instruments?

Is your lens that is on the car now foggy or scratched? You could find some really fine sand paper and polish it out. I am not sure if the plastic lens cleaner they use on headlight lens' on cars would work without damaging the lens. I would find something designed to clear old plastic without damaging it.
I have not seen any replacement lenses unless they come with the bezel. I saw a few speedometer and tachometer on EBAY

I mean the front plate of the gauge, not lenses

You can buy for tacho but not speedometer

OP, from your question, I'm assuming that you mean the metal, black, with numbering, dial faceplates of the tach & speedo. Speedo to 160 mph, and tach to 7,8K ?
Have you tried eBay? Lots of everything over there.

In my case the letters are bit faded. If '72 fits it seems to be a good option (30$). By the way I also plan to install electric module for tachometer instead of mechanical. There are electric units to put in the original tachometer for about 170$. Maybe somebody has the experience with it?

Send them to Redline in Michigan. He will restore them to perfect. The 72 face will have white numbers not correct for your 68. I converted the tach on my 69 to electric using the available module and it works great. It will have to be calibrated however, before final installation.

I looked at several of the vendors and most of them show that the face plate is not available. However I looked at Keen Parts and their website shows that it is available.
That might just be a failure on their website, but it might be a chance to see if they actually have it. It shows as part 210193..
If they have it that would be good, but if they don't you really haven't lost anything.

In fact all the gauges in the central console have white letters. So I don't mind if speedometer and tachometer are white too. Previous owner changed a lot including replacement of the front to '73... So, I'm very far from original car but it is what it is. I just would like to make it nice and running.

I sent my face plates of the speedometer and tachometer to www.corvetteclocks.com (~20 years ago) and they look new also today.
