1970 Corvette Vinyl Seats
I am looking to redo my Vettes seats this winter.... because the originals are torn and the foam is deteriorating.
I just purchased Ecklers (vinyl seats) and they look cheap where the comfort weave is supposed to be, and I will most likely be returning.
I goggled the problem and found a Forum from 2006 on this site and people were saying Al Knock had great looking Comfort weave vinyl seats.
Is that still the case? Has anyone replaced their seats with Al knock and if so have pictures would be greatly appreciated.
The car is a driver/survivor that I’m just trying to keep it looking original, not trying to win a top flight award.
Any information is great INFORMATION! Thanks

Al Knoch has a very good reputation for quality. Contact Willcox; they can get them for you.

Hi w70,
I don't believe anyone makes the 'comfort weave' vinyl exactly like the original.
If you look very carefully the original it looks 'almost' like it was woven ... there's a tiny hole at each raised impression in the vinyl.
The Knock material is close but doesn't have the 'breathing holes'.
Here's the Knock material.
Regards,
Alan

Well, I tried to take a photo of my seat cover surface (original ComfortWeave covers), but Photobucket wasn't working like it should. But, that photo of Alan71's Al Knoch cover looks amazingly like the original.

These are Knoch seat covers and foam that I put in last winter. The flash makes them look very shiny (they aren't).

Alan is right.
I used Al Knock and they are the best available.
You may want to ask about the foam because it comes in different densities. I wish I knew they had different density foam at the time
I feel like my redone seats, while beautiful, are waaay too hard compared to the originals.
He may send foam samples.

This is written up somewhere else here... I took my seats to a classic car / aircraft upholster ... He went down to frame, cleaned, repaired, and started building up... More bolster /support in thighs, sides ect...

Well, I think I was able to get the photo link working. Here is a photo of my original ComfortWeave seatcover material.

One more vote for Al Knoch. Talked to them at Corvettes at Carlisle and they said they'd be back for Fall Carlisle. Yanked my seats (70 Green metallic) and handed them to Dale and the boys. While I wandered around the fairgrounds they did the full install. Upon dissassembly they found that a portion of the seat fram was broken. They fab'd a piece on the spot and welded it in. Seats look and feel awesome. Also got a significant price cut by dealing cash....
