Sound proofing firewall/dash
What does everyone use to replace the old insulation that is use as sound deadening material?
IE. single piece of insulation that fits above firewall insulation
Also the insulation that goes between electronics and other items in the dash

I'm doing this exact project now. I tore out the old insulation, plugged the holes, and am putting down dynamat Xtreme with Reflectix on top of it. You can get dynamat (or other knock offs) on ebay or amazon, and Reflectix at Lowes. I'm also replacing all of the grommets. The goal is to keep heat/sound from passing through the open spaces in the firewall.
I chose Dynamat over some of the other options (FatMat, etc) because I'd heard isolated reports of them smelling like tar on hot days or when the product is first opened. With 80-90 degree Florida temperatures almost year round, I didn't want to risk it. I paid $142 for 36 sq ft of Dynamat, and will probably buy one more carton before it's all said and done.

I used the stock, molded blankets, but the stuff was pricey.
