I don't think I want any 30 year old car that is completely original. That would mean it has the original oil filter.

An unrestored car that has been repainted can still go for Bloomington gold status.

I consider my 69 to be a mostly original car with a lacquer repaint.

The OP wanted to know what his signboard should say. He isn't asking about the specifics of a particular judging format. I take it that he wants to be honest about what is stated, but still indicate that much of the cars components are exactly as received from the factory.

In all fairness to the all original car, what would be your answer?

If I bought a car and the owner said its all original and I found out it was repainted, we would be going to court and the owner would be lucky if anyone owned the car when I was done.

Just leave the word "original" off your poster. Your car is not but is relatively stock. Leave it at that. And enjoy the car.

The whiners at car shows that tell me that I don't have a split bumper on my 1974 irritate me....as they drive home in their Honda Civics.

No, but they'll have real fun with my winter project: a hardtop. The restoration is coming along very nicely actually. BUT, it is dated YL, October 1974. So it is for a 1975. I am now really in trouble....I'm not sure if I can be seen on the street with this out-of-date top.

But I will go stealth with a black vinyl cover!!

The horror! It is 'original', just not to your car. There again even if you found one in the correct colour and correct date, it still wouldn't be original to your car either.

Ah yes- defining 'original' is as futile as asking the length of a piece of string or how far is up.

How far is up? Well, it's twice as far as half-way up, obviously!

Keep the shiny side up!
