Default Replacing rear wheel lug stud bolt

Background: 1974 Stingray. New corvette owner. Little mechanical experience.

Problem: I've lost 2 lug stud bolts by having them shear off while driving. Another has stripped out from the back (turns but will not come off). The other two are fine.

Progress (11/12/2012): I used a grinder to take off the lug that was stripped off from the back. I probably should have drilled them out as this damaged the wheel rim. Anyways, I took off the disk breaks and parking beak. However, I cannot fit the bolt behind the spindle. The parking break flange plate gets in the way.

Question: What is the best way to replace the lug stud bolts?

I think I may have found the answer to my question in other posts. It seems you can do it either of two ways:

1) Rebuild the trailing arm. This looks like a lot of work and could be extremely time consuming considering my experience. I've heard of nightmares where certain parts are rusted out and the only way to get them out is with a sawzall.

2) Cutting holes in the parking break flange plate. This seems like the quick, jury-rigging way to do it. It will probably make you look like a terrible mechanic to the next person who takes off your rear tire.

Here's how I did it.
The pic of the stud is long gone, tho.
Just a 45* bevel to keep the head from digging into the backing plate.....

The spinning stud may be a problem.
Did the flange hole enlarge or the serrations strip off the stud?

1-3/4" will fit, 2" will need a bit of tweaking

Thx for the responses guys. I'll see if the grinder on the lug stud trick will work.
