Please recommend a Creeper.
Greetings Friends,
It's Summer Downunder and the wife has started asking what I want for Xmas.
I'd really like a creeper for getting under her (the CAR not the Wife),
But not sure which would be better - plastic or steel ???
I'm 48y/o (and not as "sprightly" as I used to be) 6 foot tall and 200lbs and slightly rounded
in the middle (if that's any help).
So what are you guys using and would you recommend it ???
TAKE CARE,
Gav

I don't know if you have Harbor Freight down under, but my low profile creeper cost 20 bucks and has served me well. I'm 6'2 and 220, and it has held up just fine. I do notice when I sit down it flexes enough to bottom out, but when I lay down it's a non issue.

How much does she like you?

Big wheels are a must. Way easier to get around on. The only drawback is that you have got to get your feet "planted" if you're pulling on something tight.

Over the years I had tried all sorts of creepers and even just rug on the floor, but by FAR the best is a piece of rubber about 1/4" thick, and 2'x4' square, shiney smooth on the top, and plain on the bottom, mine came from a bowling alley, a friend worked there.....I slide in/out from under a car SO easy now, I don' even have to grab....the extra clearance is great, never ever seem to have enough clearance, don't matter, just never is, and getting that extra easy slick surface and the extra ~2+ inches makes it SO much easier, all the room in the world......

I wish my garage big enough.
Thanks for the replies,
I've shown her this page (she likes the rollcage one )
I guess now we'll see what Santa has in sack for me.
Whichever I get, I'm gonna try to fit some rechargeable LED lights.
I'll post some pics when I start this project.
Thanks again.

I don't have one, but from quite a bit of shopping & research, if you have the money, the BONE series of creepers are the way to go!

Oh....when a creeper is a must another vote for the Bone.

I can rarely ever get the car high enough in the air to use a creeper. I use big foam rubber flooring squares (they lock together like leggos) with cardboard over the top. Glossy cardboard is best, it's slick surface makes getting in and out from under the car a lot easier.
I do have a creeper and it's like the red one shown. works ok as long as there aren't cracks and little bits of gravel for the wheels to get stuck on.
