Default Interest in C3 LSx swap headers/side pipes?

Been getting a few PM's on our C3 SBC and BBC header systems with side pipes asking if we have them for LSx swap cars. If the demand is there, I would have no problem doing them!

If interested, post up if this is something you would be interested in! Would be done in 321 stainless and would probably be somewhere in the middle of pricing between the current SBC and BBC systems!

I would have been all over this. Just ordered a custom set in 304 stainless from a non-sponsor...

Dang.

I think there would a lot of demand for this. Lack of sidemount headers is one of the things that's been steering me away from an LSX motor.

If these had been available at a reasonable price I would have gone the lsx route as opposed to sbc. Got a quote from someone on them for like 2500...that's to much for just exhaust on a 79.

I'd be in for a set of under car Headers for LSx swaps that fit well. The ones out there are terrible. Hang low or just don't fit. I already have about 1400 in 2 sets of headers that are worthless. I have tried 2 others also but was able to return them.

Honestly...they just yanked off the headers off my LSx swap yesterday and are redoing them. It would have been great to have been able to buy a set made already.

Who knows...maybe these will not get re-worked correctly and I will need new ones in a few short weeks time.

Just gauging interest. If the interest is there we can do them, but nothing we would have in a few weeks from now. Would have to make them and then produce them. We could use our SBC headers as a good starting template however!

I'm in almost the same fix. Went with the high dollar one that Gordonm did because they're the only ones with room for the Z-bar for the mechanical clutch. I'll be lucky to have 4" clearance when I'm finally on the road. So, I'm all for a set of under car headers with room for the clutch cross shaft.

I'm using Hooker shorty headers with fabricated pipes into my Magnaflow exhaust, primarily due to the cost of LS headers at the time. I would be interested in affordable under-car headers.

One thing you need to consider is the variation in LS adapter plates. I think there can be a range of ~1" or more in engine location that would affect mostly the driver side header.

If there is demand. I have seen more interest in side exit so far however.

Need more however to justify!

I'm doing an LS3 swap in my 78 c3 now. Right now I'm unhappy with most of the answers for exhaust, so I'm using stock manifolds (in my current plan.)

If you make a nice looking set of side pipe headers in that price range, then I'd have to find the cash to do that. These just aren't available. Wondering if there is demand, just look at the huge number of C3 guys doing these swaps! I'll be watching--tell us if you are going to do it!

Has to stay tight to avoid steering column and Steeroids--check out GordonM's swap thread, or Riggs's swap thread--they really fought the dang headers--that's what decided me to wait!

Bring it!!!

If you look at the popularity of the LS swaps Into C3 and C2's, it continues to grow quickly as time is and has gone, and will continue do so.
No one is making a good set of LS swap headers, side mount or under the car that fit tight to the bottom of the car. YOU make a good quality set that fits like they should, you will corner the market for C2 and C3 LS swaps.

All the manufactures seem to be afraid of investing In this for some strange reason, yes it is a financial risk, but when no one has a good set on the market, someone finally starts to build a good set, they will have all the LS swap business they could handle.

I was working with stainless works on this very same concept, we were working on using my car as the templet, but before we could set up a time to deliver my car there to their facility, it was dropped, along with the interest in building these. That's a shame because there is a market for a well built set of headers, under car, or side mount.
Build them, and the LS swappers will flock to you.

Just my thoughts.

Can you do anything with existing Hooker Side pipes? I also have been interested in an LSx swap, but already have Hooker stainless pipes for the Gen 1 SBC. I've heard that the flanges can be modified to fit for the LSx.

Jon, can you update us on the demand? Is there more than I'm seeing on this thread? I'd like to know if I can start thinking about buying from you. My LS swap is taking longer than I'd hoped, so I haven't yet bought anything-- I'd sure like to hear you are going to step up!

This thread is all I have. I am seeing a decent amount of demand. Enough to where we are definitely going to look into doing something, but we have to finish a few other projects on the plate first!
