Default Best Stabilizer?

I'm thinking that since it's 15 degrees in January up here and the 'vette is up on blocks with about 3/4 a tank of premium gas in her and hasn't run in a month... I should, well, add some stabilizer. What's the best additive, in the vast experience of those on the forum? (I know I should have put it in long ago.)

I would fill the tank to prevent water condensation.

If you have ethanol-based gas in it, its better to drain as much as possible or use a stabil product for ethanol gasoline.

Thanks guys... I'll top it off at least, but I'm pretty sure I'll add at least slightly more than what Mr. Ward humorously suggested.

Oh- and take the car off the blocks. That's not good for the suspension bushings.

I believe that some stabilizer is a good idea. I have had no problems with either StaBil or Seafoam.

In all my toys I use Stabil Marine, it's the blue color rather than the red. Have not had a problem with the car, bass boat, lawn mower or snow blower.

Always try to lay her up with a full tank Leigh. Put a little extra PSI in the tires and let her sit on the ground over the winter. Winter lay-up fill is usually premium, and some Stabil.

Mike,

It's only $5.00. Doesn't hurt to use it .

Ya, I know- but you could go broke buying every 'doesn't hurt to use it' product on the market. I'd rather go to Wendy's and have their $4.99 special.

On the 'doesn't hurt to use it' topic, it actually can. A buddy bought himself a gallon of StaBil (to save money) about ten years ago and started using it in all his toys. About three years ago, they started acting up when put back into service so he doubled the dosage for the following year. Even worse results. Carbs blocked solid.

Long story short the StaBil had gone bad, it's only got a two year shelf life once opened.

McDonald's McRib all the way, baby!

I still don't think using Stabil can hurt if used correctly.

Filled her with premium, added StaBil, and have to leave her on blocks until the rims get snadblasted and repainted... Thanks for all the input fellas... Now I'm off for a single combo from Dave Thomas.
