Default Restoring a 74 454 4-speed Conv

Started this one a few months ago. Frame and all suspension parts have been powder coated and the body is now ready for paint.

Hope to have it back on the frame in a few weeks.

This dolly is part of the AutoTwirler rotisserie assembly for Corvette bodies. Works out nice. The rotisserie ends attach to each end. Nice setup.

It's a good one... Well made.

I have one myself and love it.

Began prepping for the chassis assembly today. Had to order a few things. Hope to have it assembled by the end of next weekend.

...love that "Nomad 54".

...mayberg I believe has a survey on '74 454 roadsters. You don't see them that often.

...I once "ratio'd out" the number of 454 coupes to convertibles, and theorectically I think it came out to roughly "323" were built. I don't think the actual number is known.

...are you going to Carlisle?

This 74 has it's BORN WITH drivetrain from front to rear. No A/C but it's a 4-speed with PW, Tilt, PS, PB. Nice car.

Hi Paul. Skipping Carlisle this year. First time in 17 yrs that I've not been there. Just not "feeling it" this year. Not really sure why either.

Oh well......have a great time!!

....if this year is as dismal as last year, it maybe my final year too. Not the same without Chip or the auction action.

Sounds like you'll have a very nice car when it's done.

The car I'm restoring is code 76. The only red in 74.

Chassis is together and rolling now. Just have to install the 454/4speed and drop the body.

Isn't the Medium Red a metallic though and not really red, per se'? It's actually closer to Maroon.

i think if most people saw maroon - they would say it was "red" regardless of if it had metallic in it or not - my title says "red" .....i guess it depends on how specific you want to get...there are lots of "reds" for sure - but i'd say "medium red" (as it is called) is probably more red than any other color...haha
