Default E. Texas Auto Show and beautiful drive

Hit the local Auto Show this AM- only two Vettes there, but lots of eye candy. Then took the wife and my own classic out to a nearby scenic overlook this PM. Drop-dead gorgeous weather today in East Texas!

What color exactly is that burgandy vette? I'm looking to paint mine dark claret when funds become available, but that color burgandy is nice too.

Are those Weld Pro Star wheels on your car? They look great. I've been toying around with the idea of adding some to my 81. I haven't seen any pictures of Vettes with them yet. Your car looks very nice. Love the color.

The color is Dark Claret with same color leather interior. It's a respray, unless GM painters suck way more than I'd like to think, but the original color code (1980 code 76). I love the color as it looks different in differing light.

The wheels are older Cragar (Prostar? Streetstar?) With the too-wide tires on back the whole car looks old-school "Hot Wheels/Matchbox car come to life". Maybe not the way I would have done it, but the PO did, and I've really grown to love it.

Plus I love photos of these C3s as they seem to hide all the minor flaws!

From Athens to Honolulu?!? That's quite the drive!

Maybe you recognize the spot- Love's Lookout between Tyler and Jacksonville.

Oh yeah, totally didn't recognize it! It's been a while since I've lived in Athens. I've been in the Air Force for the last 12 years (got out at the end of August 2012). Joined in August 2000, Went to England from 2001-2003, Las Vegas from 2003-2006, Northern California (they can't all be winners) from 2006-2010, then here to Hawaii 2010-current.

My wife is getting stationed near Pensacola, FL in August. Since she is going there, I decided to go to UTI in Orlando and will leave here before she does. I'll be home in Athens from late April to early July...maybe we can meet up and take some pics (after my car gets home). She'll have a fresh new paint job, so hopefully she won't get eclipsed by your beautiful ride.

Surely you didn't cart a C3 around the globe with you?!? If yours has fresh paint it'll be no competition. Mines a total "driver" with plenty of flaws!

Oh no, I just got her in November 2011. Mine will be a driver as well and fresh off of the boat and road trip from Vegas.

She's just getting new paint because the PO sprayed, what looks and feels like popcorn ceiling material mixed with sandpaper. It was a terrible garage paint job...he just sprayed over everything (even on the interior).
