"Why is it in pieces"?..... Ooohhh Women!
It was bad enough I didn't tell my wife I bought a corvette BUT when she finally saw it today, the first thing she said "Why is it in pieces"? For the last couple of days I was secretly at my mechanics place ("hanging out"- Good friend of mine) removing parts to get it ready for the summer
This is my first corvette purchase. A 1977..... There's some work to do and I will come to the community for help once in a while. I have some many questions but will ask a few at a time. As for my wife, she saw the potential and my vision and herself in the driver seat!
See attached pics. The previous owner attempted to paint themselves. Horrible job even worst idea! Original color was red. I will do a repaint and keep the yellow
Car starts in the first strike! and sounds great! For know I will concentrate on the interior and the next couple of week tackle the engine.
On the tow truck
Home... Well my mechanics place home
Driver Int
Driver door- Need door panels
Rear with pieces I took out
Rear with bumper off
Passenger side
Gauge bezel- First test piece for paint
Gauge bezel back
Rear glass with goo all around the edges. How can I get that off? YUK!

I have a couple of questions
1) The turn signal and washer blade on/off switch is all in one? Mine is missing and will have to be replaced
2) Is there something to adjust the back rest of the seat? Back & forth

I didnt even tell the wife I bought another one the other day, she will be suprised (not in the good way) when she open the garage door.
Congrat on the new toy, try and enjoy. Once you get the Wife into the car you will be golden. I still have to figure out how to explain why I have another one. LOL

I didn't tell my wife for several months after I bought my vette off craigslist. Kept it at my friends shop and told her I was helping out working on his vette. Later the truth came out, took her for 1st ride and had a small oil leak from a loose valve cover, that got oil on the exhaust manifold. First comment was what that smell followed by let me out of this thing. Looked like the engine was on fire the way smoke was rolling out under the hood. After looking it over discovered the problem and convinced her it wasn't going to catch fire and it would be ok to drive it home.
Best one was on the way to my first Vette show and she didn't really want to waste an entire day so mood wasn't really that positive about the outing. About 10 miles or so down the road she starts screaming and a mouse fell out from under the dash. She rode the rest of the weekend with her feet on the seat so she didn't notice how hot the floor pan gets.

My dad had 2 red corvettes, a 71 vert and a '78 t-top. Mom, for two years never knew he had 2. He would drive them one at the time leaving one in the shop building. So there would be a convertible in the drive sometimes, or a t-top sometimes. Mom would walk right by them never knowing the difference until one day a friend of dads mentioned to mom about him having 2 corvettes. She says "he doesn't have two corvettes, just a red one" the guy eased out of the conversation but knowing he'd let the secret out. When she asked Dad about it, he said "well I've had the other one for two years"...Mom promptly bought something... forgot what, but it was expensive. Still have the '71 vert.
That's funny!!!! LOL!!!! Leave up to a friend to throw you under the bus!
