how about I buy the stuff and ship to you to make them then you could ship them to me and I could install. sounds good to me
I would like to keep the factory look and keep the reverse lights in the taillights but add the white led to replace the white reverse light.
you have done a great job and they look awesome!

Awww man, I barely have enough free time to get my own junk built!!!! If I had the time, I would make them for you. Don't sell yourself short, give it a shot. This tail light mod is so easy, it should be illegal! I bet some vendor is going to copy my idea and start selling them!

Ok...looking into getting parts...
What is difference between electronic flasher VS LED flasher? (how many LED lights require LED flasher)
Per the link to the Ebay headlamp lenses...did the AUTOPAL brand work best vs the others?
How do you change from 1156 in rear taillights to 1157? just replace sockets?
Thanks,
Ron

I only tried the Autopal lights to do the mod, I didn't try any other brands. I did buy 2 brands of ready-made halo headlights, but as I already stated, I found them to be poorly made with plastic housings that didn't fit well and LED halos that only had 4 LEDs per halo - they were very dim. I already had a set of the Autopal headlights installed on the car, so I already knew they fit and had a glass lens and metal housing....so I used them for the halo mod.
To change to 1157 taillights, the entire metal taillight housing has to be changed to the 1157 type.

Hey Bruce-
Thanks to you - I did the Halos as well. Thanks for taking the time to write it up.
One trick I used- a hot glue gun- a couple dabs to hold it in place- then could immediately put down the bead of silicon.
I did add these modules from Speedway Motors to sequential flash the taillights-less than $60 for the set. Just have to run a new brake wire to the pedal.
I also added a LED license plate light w/ LED strip light and a short sections of aluminum tubing. Was going to use the factory bracket w/ LED light- but wouldn't work in my application.

And here's my reverse lights...

Richard.....hahaha....love the license plate mod! Total James Bond stuff!! Would be great for the toll roads...not that I would use it in that manner <wink wink> Those Miata/Probe motors are so simple and versatile with their built in contacts, they can be used for just about anything!!
Great tip about using the glue gun. The sequential light controller is pretty cool too, might have to copy that!

Bruce,
Every time I read this thread, I chuckle at your description on how you removed the element from the back of the lens. I still haven't tried this but think I'd be lucky to only break/ruin 4.
Thanks again for the chuckle.

The LED halo rings in your link don't have very many LEDs per ring.
If it was me doing this again, I would use a red cob LED for the rear halos. like these:

So do I, although I wasn't too happy at the time!!
