Donnie,
When you look at those first pic. of the engine and now the last ones after the install, there are just no words that can do it justice.
You should be so very proud!!! amazing job

Yes, it sure has been a long process from the beginning to this point in time.
If I hadn't been able to do the work myself,
I can't imagine what the total cost would have been.

Saturday I got my transmission back from rebuild. Got the transmission and rented engine hoist about
9:00AM. I got the engine off of the stand and attached the transmission then stopped for lunch.
Then with the help of my little wife, we reinstalled both as one piece. It went a lot better than I was expecting.
We had engine mounts and trans mount and cross member all bolted up by 3:00PM. Rolled 73 back into garage
about 4:00PM, after putting the wheels back on, then quit.
This morning, reattached carb, distributor, coil, other connections.
After I torque the A-arm bushings, I will reinstall the radiator.
Still have a way to go, but can see the light now.

Well, after 20 year under the tarp and 3 years working to restore,
I finally have the 73 back together and running again. My wife and
I took a ride together in it for the first time since early 1991. I have
it inspected and new tags. I still have not replaced the hood, I still
have a little more work before I reinstall it.
Thanks for all the help and encouragement from you on the forum.
Just wanted to update you on my progress so far.
I made this short video. Hope it works here.

I remember your car! The chassis was melted from being under tarps for decades!
It's great to see that you flew past me on the restoration.....
(maybe you and your wife could drive down after Christmas.....and HELP me put this thing together!)

Spent several hours last night trying to replace the photos that photo- bucket
removed with ones from my computer. Hope that I got all that I needed to replace.
It is very unfortunate that they choose to remove photos that members here were
just trying to help others and not for profit. My experience was to offer others
hope that no matter how bad the situation looks, there is hope.

Here are a couple of photos now.

Nice job!!
I'm kicking around doing a frame off on my 69 when I retire for a couple of reasons.. Biggest one is to give me something to do, and #2 reason is to simply get the frame cleaned up and powdercoated.

Well, it has been a long adventure, but I have finally completed everything including a top rate strip down and repaint in original classic white. I didn't paint it myself, but had a shop here locally that does classics and corvettes. Was lucky to have a shop close by. I am including some photos showing everything completed.

I want to thank everyone for their support and help during this process. I also couldn't have done this without the help of my wife.
You are fortunate if you have a wife that will help you reinstall the engine and transmission when there is nobody else around to help.
Again, thanks everyone.

Nice work!
Amazing journey from start to finish.
What paint did you use? Did you prep for paint and have them paint it, or did they do everything? (If you feel comfortable doing so, please give ballpark cost for painting.)

I didn't do any of the paint prep. It was all done by professionals. I don't know what brand of paint they used. I just wanted the original color white.
He did say that they had to do a lot of block sanding to get all imperfections out that were there from the factory, then color and at least two clear coats.
In all it cost $11,000 including stripping down completely, painting, and having the rear bumpers re-chromed.
I am more than completely satisfied with the results.

I know where there is a 1971 real deal LS-6 Corvette right now that the guy has had covered in his driveway similarly with plastic, and bricks tarped right to the ground so that all of the moisture has no where to go. I have watched this car for over 30 years, and I guarantee it is complete junk at this point. I tried to tell him, and even tried to get him to let me restore or at least properly moth ball it, but nope, it still sits in the sauna of tarp, and ground moisture.
