Default Dash Pad ???

The dash in my 81 is in ok shape, the top corners are cracked from the sun and it has a small piece missing in the center above the center gauges.

I have read up on the quality of the replacement dash board, that said does anyone offer a skin for the dash? I have seen them for Chevy trucks,
where you glue them over the factory pad?

I am going to try and remove the dash tomorrow, and anything of this nature, would mean I have to get the old one out with out any more damage?

Yes. Some people have had good results with them, others have not. Pick one of the major providers along the left of the page and see what they have.

I had pretty good luck with mine. IF you go this route DO NOT remove the present dash.

There are a few places that need attention but with a little thought and patience this one fit pretty good.

I was thinking about experimenting sewing a vinyl cover with exposed stitching and glueing it to cover my dash. Something like a modern sports car would have. Anyone tried this?

This is pretty impressive for a dash cover!

My dash is in perfect condition and I have been looking into dash pad protectors. To add protection only problem is I have not found one to match my 1977 Torch Red interior. I have put these on other cars and it helps to throw them in the dryer to get out the wrinkles from the packaging.
