Only had a few hours to work on the car today. Worked on all the welds on the frame and started welding in gussets on the lower control arm brackets.
I have been looking at paint and there is a paint shop that sales Valspar and De Beer(de Beer is made by Valspar). Has anyone ever used this brand? They also have House of Kolor but that I think is also made by Valspar.
My frame is going to be powder coated but for other under car parts I was looking at a few different products.
1. Frame paint from Summit Racing
2. frame paint from Eastwood
3. POR15
4. or KBS Coatings frame paint. From what I am told this is basically the same as POR15 but updated and better. Anyone ever used this stuff?

I have been working on welding cracked and broken welds on the frame, also boxing in the front section of the frame. In the rear where the cross member for the differential attaches most of the welds are cracked. This entire bracket assemble seems really weak and I was wondering what others have done to strengthen it.

I have not posted anything in a while, just been working on welding and should be completed with in the next few days. I hope to get the frame to the powder coaters next week. Wish me luck, I am using a friends boat trailer to get it there.
I sent my trailing arms and bearing assembles to Vansteel and they just received them. I am excited to see how there offset T-arms look!
I am not sure but I am pondering also getting there upper control arms to get more caster. Any one use them?
I also pulled all the wiring out of the car....it is just amazing that the car did not catch on fire. A large portion of the fuse block is melted and in many places the wire insulation is cracking and falling off.

Yesterday I dropped the frame off at the powder coaters. Some of the straps even though I had card board between the strap and the frame broke, glad I had 8 straps holding the frame to the boat trailer. They told me that it will be 2 to 3 weeks. Also have all my suspension parts on order. I started sand blasting some of the small parts that are going to just be painted.
I have Van Steel off set trailing arms and also there upper control arms on order. Also ordered smart struts and the Borgeson gear box.

It has been a while since I have added anything to my build thread. Here is what I have been doing on the Vette.
I finished all the welding on the frame, cross members and control arms and took it to be powder coated. The place I found helped me out and to say thanks for being in the military they did it for $450.00 which they told me there normal price would have been more around $800.00. Even at $800.00 they would still have been the best price in the state. To trans port the frame I used a friends boat trailer. It worked out really well.
I am really happy that I decided to go the powder coat route and recommend it to anyone trying to decide weather to powder cote or paint.
I got my trailing arm/rear wheel bearing assembly back from Van Steel. It looks amazing and I think that they did a really good job. I went with the offset T arms so I can go with a 9.5 in rear wheel. Also I maybe it is a little bit stiffer and stronger than the stock trailing arms.
It turned out that both rear spindles were bent! I know that I have two slightly bent rims, also the right spindle was the one that was bent the most, which is the wheel bearing that failed. Also the right half shafts u joint flange and the right strut rod were bent. Some previous owner must have hit something hard.
I also have been spending a lot of time degreasing, sand blasting and painting a lot of the small parts to assemble the suspension. I still have a bunch of small parts in the mail that I am waiting on to assemble the suspension. Parts like ball joints, u joints and bushings.

powder coating looks great on frame ! and other parts also look great. Just curious, what are you painting smaller suspension parts with, that is what brand of paint. Frank.
