Default Front license plate filler

Hey Guys,

I want to put something in the space for the front license plate. Would a front plate filler from the C5 era work?

Example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-2004-C5-Corvette-Front-Bumper-Lettering-Kit-License-Plate-Letter-Kit-Z06-/140892753067?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACorvette&hash=item20cddcccab&vxp=mtr
If not, does anyone have one of those black plates that says corvette sitting around the garage?

Example:
http://image.carcraft.com/f/eventcov...front_view.jpg

Thanks.

I'm thinking of doing this too. I believe you will have the best luck with an '84-'90 filler

Google Grill Mates (I believe that was the trade name) or something similar to that. Someone used to make these. You could always run the CORVETTE front plate.

it actually fits pretty good with a little persuasion. Too bad their "white" is actually more of a "Cream" now I have to get it painted

i'll get the top fitted better before I paint it. (cut slots) I just did this real quick to make sure it was going to work

That doesn't look too bad. How does it adhere to the bumper? Do you have to screw it in from the back of the bumper?

there's 2 hidden screw holes for it to mount from the front. when the license plate is installed you won't see the mounting holes.

I was able to find and buy the elusive Grill Mate from an eBay auction. It was pretty pricey because the items included the left & right front turn signal grills as well. Each piece was new and in unmounted condition.

What I ended up doing instead was buying a 1979 year license plate and having my local body shop sandblast and paint it body color. Came out real nice -very subtle. Now everyone knows what year my car is without having to guess.

This looks pretty good, just needs to be trimmed down so it fits flush with the bumper.

Mine is white also; the middle area I felt looked too white, so this plate was good contrast and tied in the black grills. Also a reminder...

The actual filler that matches the other front vents was a fortune IMO for what it was - - like $250+ . . .so I took the historic/patriotic route . .

I had intentions on using a c4 plate cover. Even bought one off ebay, I really didn't like the fitment at the top/bottom, was tight around the sides and it stuck out a bit much. So instead of making a fiberglass piece or modifying it I went a different/easier route.

I bought a generic plastic clear license plate cover that I thought would look like a stock item and fit nice and clean. I guess I need to paint my stainless bolts black or grey to blend in a little better.

Ecklers used to sell those, it looks better in that picture than in person,
